Interesting thread in that I have always used 87 octane on every bike I have ever had. The last 10 years I've used 4 capfuls of Marvel Mystery Oil in a full tank to keep those pesky carb critters away. This is the only added fluid I will ever use and have never dealt with carb issues or runnability.

After talking with the Honda dealer mechanic he told me it didn't matter. He recommended Shell but said anyone who has the least ethanol. There is a smart phone app call "pure gas" I installed and found 2 stations within 10 miles of me with non-ethanol!

All brands have their own additives and cleaners, but the fuel is usually from the same wholesale pump. The ethanol levels are what's important.

Non ethanol pumps are becoming more and more common at the local stations around here so it's an easy find. Have had best results with 87 non ethanol over premiums

Hmm.. ive always used premium 93 gas in my scoot so I could stay away from ethanol. I might try a few tanks full of 87 and see whats what.

That application is awesome. I found four or five stations within about seven miles of my home. It's a lifesaver.

One question I have is does the compression ratio in the engine make a difference whether you can get away with 87 octane or if you need 91?
