Shadow Carb Jet kits
Hey guys I have a small bike and I am thinking of upgrading to a 2007 Shadow 750 Spirit. I found one near were I live where the guy says that all it needs is a new breather and cover. From the pictures I can see that he has nicely covered the carburetor so it is not wide in the open and exposed. But with this bike needing this it makes me want to upgrade it so that I do a crank case breathing upgrade and also an air intake upgrade as well. I would like to put drag pipes on it if they are not already on, I can not tell from the pics he sent me if they are stock or not and I had not got around to asking him.
The bike is pretty cheap and I know that when you are upgrading the air intake of a carburetor you need to re jet it. I have searched online and a lot of people have said that it cost a lot for a mechanic to do so it should just be done by yourself and learn how. So my question is how hard is this? I would like to put a stage 3 jet kit on it and a new high performance air intake since I need to buy one for this bike any ways. Also how hard is it to tune your carb properly? I know a kid who had a carbureted car and said he tuned it but it still never ran correctly at higher speeds, So can anyone give me tips on how to do this properly?
Or if I should just buy the parts and take them to a mechanic and have him professionally do it himself?
Thanks guys for reading my long rambling post and in advance for the advice.
