just in support,...
this is the greatest of mods if you are low on cash.
I spent a twenty dollar bill to buy a holesaw, and had to seriously think about whether or not to change the pipes afterwards..........
Of course I am going to, the modding wont hold itself back, but definately a badass mod.

To anyone who has done this...
Does the sound end up being a beefy rumble, or a loud popping sound.
I would LOVE to get a deeper sound but not so much louder. Would this be a full pipe change rather than a mod?

May be a stupid question, but here goes. Are those the baffles that you cut out?

No, the baffles are further into the pipe, almost next to the bend coming out of the engine. What you are cutting out is the resonators. The baffles get the emissions and sound level down under EPA standards. The resonators just make the exhaust even more quiet. I talked to my local dealer about this and he told me that 1) It will void your warranty, so don't do until your warranty expires AND 2) Your bike will still pass inspection since the baffles are still in. (This is for TX, so I'm not sure about your state.)

Very good Pics and instructions...BUT, I went ahead and cut all the guts out..Then drove a 1 7/8 pipe all the way in tight in the taper. Now I had Straights..screwed a screw in the bottom to hold the pipes no rattle or looseness. If you use 2" pipe you can buy baffles for about $40 that will sound just like the aftermarket pipe they were for.. I bent to quarter size flaps down at the Crossover and the Power increased with the sould down a little loved the racking of the straights but it is not as annoying to others now..very managable on the cruising Not too loud at all. Here is pics of the mod...with no instructions and a Jack Mod.. Click Here

By far, hands down, the best mod I did. Well the forwards were good to, but this one was the cheapest and put the biggest smile on my face. I was really worried it would be too loud, and at first I thought it was. But it isn't and I wish I hadn't waited.
