Going with a relace is definitely cheaper, that or a CBR rim. My rims were custom made for me (something I sketched and gave to them), but now they have them on their website as a style available....go figure.
Tires up here are a tad more then they are in the U.S. Mine being a 200/50-18" was on the high end of the scale. I think the total cost for front and back tires was about $380.00. but that was with a 25% discount. Obviously the dealer will flog you for whatever he can get, yeah I used a local Honda dealer here for my tires. We don't have a lot of options here as you probably noticed during your visit. Shipping from the US would have eaten up any savings on the tires.
If you are trying to save, go with a relace or CBR mod. With your abilities the CBR mod won't be a problem at all. The relace (or in my case the custom rims) are a direct bolt on. I altered my subframe so I'd have clearance. Most have eliminated it all together.
My rims came from customdreamcycles, but you are better off dealing direct with cruiseconcepts.biz where they are made if that's the route you choose. They will run you anywhere from $900 and up each. So you can see the savings going the other routes that cowboy has suggested.
I think Nav also did a relace recently, not sure what his total bill was........but add the exchange rate onto those figures and a landing factor for having items ship and you may find that buying local isn't that bad.
