I'm a Noob here on this site but it has helped me quite a bit so far so thanks for that.
I figured I would put up a build thread. I may have some Ideas to give others here. at 16 years old it probably wont be anything ingenious but you never know.
Quick History: Bought the bike off of craigslist. It was pretty much all stock for 1000 bucks. Ran fine, came with a COMPLETE parts bike that was all taken apart with no title. When I got there to pick it up as it sat running I told him I would give him 800 and he agreed. Then When I was about to take a test ride it wouldn't start. So I got him down to 700. Took it home and then realized that I was on an insanely steep hill trying to start the bike and It just needed to be on a level surface! haha so it runs fine and sounds great thanks to rusted out baffles. so for 700 who can argue.
How it came home as:
What I kind of want it to look like:
The second day, I painted the Exhaust and the covers. ( I still need to find a battery cover or make one ) And I reupholstered and recarved the seat and added a rear seat from a Harley FXRSc:
A couple weeks later, I got a new battery cuz my bike wouldnt start easily. Oh and spark plugs. Iridium ones. Cant honestly tell the difference cept the normal ones are alot cheaper. Then today, I got Some decals (for temporary "Style"), a rear LED light strip that I will eventually Use for turn signals, and relocated the ignitors from under the seat to under the battery.
As it sits in the driveway tonight:
This is what I did to move the sparkers under the battery:
The only real big thing I had to do was extend the wires. otherwise I just pulled and routed the wires across the seat. I didnt want to take out the air box so the battery space underneath was a good spot.
Other than extending the license plate light wires and the tailight wires, You have to extend the Tri-grounding wires:
Extend the wire that doesnt lead to the spark connectors:
Here is what the sparks look like underneath the scorpion battery:
I'll be getting drag bars and start to replace the ugly gauge cluster.... (what fun) Then it will be making a solo seat, bobbed fender, lowering springs, etc. etc. etc.
