Installing a BackOff XP Brake Light Modulator to a 2008 Shadow Spirit (VT750C2)

Being new to biking and concerned about unintentional rear assists from cars, I decided to add a brake light modulator to flash my brake lights a few times whenever front or rear brakes are applied. There are a number of brake light modulators you can buy, each with its own features and advantages. The BackOff XP module from Signal Dynamics had what I was looking for at a reasonable price, looked durable and the wiring was easy so I went with it................

Got one of these on my bike too. Works well. Much more effective at night. The blinking red def catches the eye better. Think mine has 3 slow flashes and a 4 sec hold before repeating. I used to pump my brakes or tap the foot pedal, but t his is way easier. Nice pic noob!

I went with the Pentastar-XP from Signal Dynamics but it takes a little more work because doesn't work with stock controls. I had to get some custom momentary switches which I drilled into my Z-bars, switched rear signals to red leds and now they run as brake lights and turn signals. Also have a self-canceling turn signal mode ( I sometimes forget to turn signals off) and hazard option just in case you have to stop on side of the road at night .
