VT600 Shop Manual - [Improved] PDF

Like a lot of folks, I downloaded the pdf version of the shop manual for my bike. It was a cumbersome pain in the ass. Who wants to press [PAGE DOWN] a couple hundred times to find how the clutch assembly goes back together when their bike is on the lift and there are parts flying all over the place..?

This is my humble contribution... I took some time to bookmark a proper table of contents within the pdf and ran it through my OCR software and made it completely text-searchable.

Index / Table of Contents

Search Function

[I'm sure EVERYBODY is excited to know that the word "axle" appears 45 times in the VT600 shop manual.]

The "original" was just what looked like a scanned copy of the paper document. It weighed in at just over 100MB. As part of the OCR / Text conversion, I optimized the document for text with only a slight sacrifice of some of the included graphics. It's now ~ 25MB (The zip archive attached to this link should be ~ 24MB).

Here is a link to a direct download of the compressed file:

I'm not sure how long I'll be able to keep it up. (Go ahead, that setup is WIDE OPEN). I may hit a bandwidth restriction (not sure) and in that case, the link will cease to work. If that happens, as soon as somebody let's me know (and I'm sure they will) I'll find another means of hosting / attaching the file.

[I'm pretty sure this makes it obvious where the "geek" in "ScootGeek" comes into play...]

I'm also available for Photoshopping ex-wives and girlfriends into Donkey-Shows and German Scat pictures... On a case-by-case basis, of course...

Now, I'm going to go fuck-off for a while... Noob Down...

Dude!!! Best Noob EVER!!!

Thanks a ton man. Unless this turns out to be a virus in which case you're a dead noob.

I'm guessing by your bike this is the 99 and newer VLX model?

Came directly off my machine. Should scan clean. If, for whatever reason, anything strange happens let me know. I can answer any questions that might arise. If I fuctup somewhere along the way in setting this up, or if you're having any issues with how the whole thing should work just hit me back here. If you've got a question, odds are the answer will help somebody else too..

Also, pretty astute observation associating a .PDF with a warm, happy place for a virus to reside. In my opinion and experience, .PDF files are among the easiest to infect with a payload. Scan ALWAYS. But, fear not in this case..

Hope it helps!

Damn it! Almost forgot... I gave Menace a crack at the files and posting procedure a few hours before I started the thread. And, I'm guessing he knows his shit when it comes to payloads and such. I'm pretty sure I'd have caught the back of his "pimp hand" for trying to pull nefarious type-shit...

with it being a flaky hosting site the link might break soon. if there was a more stable way of hosting it and the other mods are cool with it we can sticky it no prob

The link "should be" solid. I use that particular hosting service all the time. I've just never used it in a "long term" sort of way... To that end, I usually would set something up on an FTP site. But, then you're talking setting up user logins and passwords... And, frankly I just wanted people to be able to click a link and "FUCKING BOOM!!! I GOT IT!!!" (Simple).

Sticky-fied...
If link ever does go "BOOM",,, We can always revoke the sticky or Nuke the entire thread.

Again,
Nice contribution SkankGoob
don't get all uppity, you're on the right path but arrival far from imminent or assured.
