Thanks to McVeigh and a few other brothers on here, i believe i have found the easiest
and probably the cheapest "good" way to make a intake manifold for converting from stock
dual carbs to a single carb.
After doing some measuring, i found some interesting facts. Those findings resulted in
the following intake.
Using 1" hot water pvc & two fittings. A 90 degree fitting an a Tee fitting along with
a 1-1/4" piece of straight pvc.
The first pic, you see i have the Tee fitting. I have measured in 1/2" on one end and made
a black mark. This is where i am using a dremel tool to cut the Tee shorter due to it being
too long for our purposes.
Also, i have made a red line on the Tee for you. The red line is where i am using the Dremel
tool with a small drill bit to create an indention all the way around this end.
If you look at the stock carb and how it slips into the mounting rubber at the head, i am
basically reproducing a similar type groove.
I will have to make the same groove on one end of the 90.
Here is what it looks like complete.
NOTE: It is difficult to mount this in the rubbers. I had to use a mallette. However using a
lil WD-40 on the ends to make them slippery helped. It will have to be removed to glue all the
pieces in their final placement. To insure fitment, i drew a line from the 90 to the tee just
in case i lost alignment when removing.
This is it installed.
Now i purchase a 40mm flange for mounting the carb to the PVC.
Next attach the carb to the flange. Make sure to buy a carb that bolts to the flange!
I will need to make a mount that will hold the carb in place with a secure fit.
Hook up throttle cables, choke cable & breather.
Complete setup and no welding required.
And yes, hot water pvc is made to withstand high temperatures.
