Side Covers for VLX Earlier than '99

These aren't the cleanest templates, but they will do. I got permission from someone else to post them. Tried to attach the PDF's but the right side was too big. If you want the PDF's PM or email me and I can send them to you.

That's a good idea. Wanna make me some to show off on my build to give you some business?

Sure, but let me make mine first. That way, I can fuck up everything and work all the bugs out on my bike. May require a little drilling and tapping to install snaps to the frame, that's the only way I've thought of to attach them to the bike, but if you have any othe ideas, I'd be glad to hear them.

Gorilla glue? J/K

I think snaps is probably the best route, you could go with plastic clips like used to install interior panels on, but wouldn't work as well I don't think and you can customize snaps, stuck with black plastic the other way. I would probably rivet the buttons to the frame instead of drill/tap just because I'm lazy like that.

You can put some hooks in theframe or loops and leaher lace it to the frame so it look like the side covers ar tied on.

I like froggy's idea with lace look, but would need to make them easy on and off. Might be able to turn back the leather and hide the snaps or possibly velcro, but that is kinda tacky.

Velcro on the back, wouldn't be seen at all, and they would just "float" on there, kind of like the factory ones.

And that adhesive on the industrial velcro won't turn loose either! That might be interesting.
