I'll say that is a very sweet find..wish I could have found this 2 years ago when I did my mods...but I must say after taking a look at it and I'm no expert at electronics...I've completely removed my stock controls as such:

and that simplified my wiring a little...mine is completely stupified and more simple than this...although I am slightly bragging about that...I'm not skilled enough to make a wiring diagram to show what I have....there's a few items I see in this schematic that still aren't needed when doing a simplified modded bike. NOT bashing it either...it is a good schematic to follow. Although one may find out while doing a chop mod that there some things they can leave out of the loop and still work with just fine.

I can wrench on just about anything but the electronics I am not so good at and this question proves it.

Why do I only have two wires going to my brake light? does that mean I am grounded through my frame? it is on all the time and of course works when I brake

one other thing... is it easier to pull everything off and make some of the changes first or just do it all on my bike? Since I am in the middle of the tear down I was just curious

The question about the frame you answered yourself, it grounds through the frame.

The other question depends on what your plans are. When I did my build I took the wiring harness completely out and re did it. There are a lot of needless wires you can do away with depending on what route you are going.

Thanks baldeagle.... basically I am moving the handlebar controls, getting rid of the blinkers, getting rid of the kiskstand safety... etc etc... I'm cutting everything unnecessary out... not that it is electrical but I am removing my speedo also because my phone has an app for it and magnets to my tank, and its (speedo) easy to put back on

In that case, take it out and strip it down. It will be a lot easier. I know it is a long thread, but you may want to look through my TCU build and see what I did. I moved the rear coil up under my tank. ScootGeek did the same, but he went a little farther by fabbing a bracket and welding it to the frame so he could bolt the coil down...I just zip tied mine and never had an issue.

When you get everything apart and stripped out and clean make sure to put it back on and verify all the wires reach where they should. I had some issues and had to redo my loom a few times.

Still trying to figure out the wiring of the starter button. Can the 2 wires (black/red and blue/white) that are at the front of the starter button be wired together? Then the yellow/red and black/white wire be wired to a new starter switch? Cant figure out the best way to do the wiring for the starter button.
