birshking's first bob

so I picked up a 2007 vlx for a great deal on craigslist. the orginal owner has rusted out pipes that was custom made but useless so those were toss out. the seat was chopped but not bolted down??? so ill post picks as I get things done. my plans are to get factory pipes chop'em and wrap'em. black out a lot of the items on the bike motor, tank, bars, etc. ape hangers, custom fiber glass fenders, lowering, and air ride bagged seat. the previous owner had already started the break down and the bike was in pieces.

Note: the controls are off the bars as I took them off to test fit a set of bars I got.

I seen this done with thin aluminum looked like roofing material. It was zacopilu idea. so I decided to go buy a heat gun and try to melt abs plastic to make a box. well the material ended up costing more than I wished. so I got a black waste basket from Wal-Mart and cut that up to make my box. trash can= $4, abs sheet $60, so no brainer I went cheap and just improvised.

Just an FYI...you didn't have to strip the bike down that far to test fit the bars.
