Combination tail lights and turn indicators

Been tellin BE I'd wright this up for awhile now. So here it goes.

For older model VLXs like the 96 that have a tail light with two bulbs in it. You can do away with the rear turn signals from the sides of the fender and incorporate them into the tail light.

1st go to your local parts store and get a tail light conversion kit. Like this one.

2nd remove the seat and side covers to get access to the wiring harness.

3rd using the wire diagram on the converter connect each input wire with the corresponding wire in the harness.(trace the wires back from their components, cause the colors ain't gone match)

(hint: for noobs and grey/no hairs cut and splice one wire at a time)

4th now connect the corresponding output wire with the proper tail light wire.

(hint: see hint above)

Now your tail light should be as function the same as the tail lights in an old pick-up.

5th start yanking off turn signals and excessive wire to keep the turn signals from blinking faster when you apply the brakes get a flasher with a heavier resistance.

I'll see if I can get some pics or even a video for wingman to post up...he's a solid dude, but technology...well, he'd probably say he might be a little challenged.

Ha, I didn't think about the fact you actually have 2 '96 models and can basically fake the pics if you wanted to.

Here is the right side of the harness that runs to the tail lights and the right turn signal.

The left turn signal and the marker light for your plate are on the left side under the seat and above the ignition control box.

Install the conversion kit between the tail light and the wiring harness.
Remember the colors will not match.

The yellow wire running off to bottom of the picture is for the left turn signal.
