'97 VLX 600 Velocity Stack & Carb rebuild

Thanks to some great advice and supplier referrals my bike is now a little closer to what I have planned for it to look like.

Rejet kit from Carbjetkits.com worked perfectly with no issues. Dime City Cycles velocity stacks, a couple carb rebuild kits and some Outerwears prefilters. Not to mention the priceless tutorial by TJ Brutal Customs which helped make this mod very simple.

Lost a few mpg's but she runs like a raped ape on the higher end. More throttle response and she sounds a lot better having both the open pipes with more air flow in.

New Parts

Out with the old

I'm just still trying to picture how something running like a raped ape would be a good thing. To me, it seems like a properly raped ape would actually run slower.

But then, I know very little about the raping of apes.

Bike looks good and sounds like it runs like a champ, regardless of any ape involvement! :)

Looking good man, i (and many, many others on this forum) also did this mod, cleans the bike up really good and best of all it's a big improvement on the engine.

do the prefilters have effect on the intake, or are they just to keep dirt and water out? i've never seen those before..

i read on another (italian) forum that a guy just rejet the carbs with a main jet of 135, a couple of 1mm washers under the pin and that's it.
he's got open oem exhaust.
