I haven't been on for some time now. Had a lot going on. I recently got another sportbike ('05 Yami R6) and have been riding with the ol' lady some and needless to say she's kinda got hooked on riding. Only issue is the ACE isn't capable of two up riding as is and the R6 isn't very good for long trips. I've looked into some Glides, but just can't justify the cost right now. So I've decided instead of taking a loss on the Shadow, I'll just turn it into a tourer. First of all I'll toss up some old pics to give the noobs a glance on where I'm at.
Onto my plans. I had welded/molded the rear fender to the rear frame. I will be hacking that off and smoothing the frame back to stock configuration. I will be sourcing a stock ACE rear fender for the back. The lowering brackets will be parted out to raise the bike up a bit. I will be using some generic hard saddle bags off ebay. For comfort I will be using a Mustang wide touring seat. I am going to attempt to go up to a 23" front wheel using an aftermarket unit for a sportster. That should allow me to go back to the stock speedo setup. I'll use an aftermarket swept front fender for 23" applications. I will also be mounting an aftermarket batwing fairing styled similar to the Street Glides. Mounted in it will be a Kenwood marine grade CD player and Polk MM691 6"x9" coaxial speakers. I will try to mount the speedo in the fairing and also be adding a tach there as well. To finish everything up I will be painting it Orion Mica tri-coat from a Lamborghini Giallardo (have laying around from when I painted my old TL1000R). I'm also going to attempt to put my old floorboards back on and retrofit up some highway bars and leg fairings.
